                               ORDINANCE NO. 10385
        
        
        
                   AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHATTANOOGA CITY CODE,
                   PART II, SECTION 14-2, IN ORDER TO ADOPT THE
                   NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE OF 1996 AS THE
                   OFFICIAL ELECTRICAL CODE OF THE CITY OF
                   CHATTANOOGA AND TO ADOPT A NEW SECTION 14-3
                   ENTITLED "AMENDMENTS TO CODE ADOPTED".

              	   SECTION 1.  BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
         CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That Chattanooga City Code, 
Part
         II, Section 14-2 be and hereby is amended by deleting the
         present Section 14-2 in its entirety and substituting in lieu
         thereof the following:
              Section 14-2.  Code Adopted.
             
              The National Electrical Code of 1996 is hereby adopted
              as the official electrical code of the City.  Such Code
              is adopted by reference pursuant to the provisions of
              T.C.A. A76-54-501 through A76-54-506.  All tables and
              examples included in the National Electrical Code of
              1996 are adopted by the City of Chattanooga.  The
              provisions of such National Electrical Code shall be in
              full force and effect to the same extent as if such
              provisions were copied verbatim herein.  One (1)
              original of the National Electrical Code is now on file
              and has been on file in the office of the Clerk of the
              City Council for more than fifteen (15) days, subject to
              public inspection.
             
              	   SECTION 2.  BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that a new section
         14-3 be created entitled "Amendments to Code Adopted" which 
shall
         state as follows:

              Section 14-3.  Amendments to Code Adopted.
             
              The following sections of the National Electrical Code,
              1996 Edition, are hereby amended, as hereinafter
              provided:
             
              (a)  Sections 210-52.C (2) & (3) are deleted in their
              entirety.
             
              	   SECTION 3.  BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that this Ordinance 

         shall become effective within two (2) weeks from and after its
         passage as provided by law.
